Over 2.2 million French homes subscribe to 30 Mbps+ service

France's active superfast broadband accounts, defined as having 30 Mbps or more peak downstream rates, reached 2.2 million at the end of March, up 30 percent on a year earlier, according to telecom regulator Arcep. Within the total (xDSL, cable, fibre), those with a fully optical service grew by 69 percent to 640,000. Broadband accounts with under 30 Mbps grew to 23.01 million at the end of March from 22.53 million in March 2013. For the first time, more than 20 percent of homes passed by FttH were subscribers, and the subscription rate for superfast broadband, all technologies combined,
