Over 5% of French use phones for catch-up TV

Monthly catch-up TV viewing on smartphones reached a 5.2 percent penetration of French smartphone owners in 2012, an increase of 750,000 people on 2011, according to Mediametrie. There were 630,000 more catch-up viewers on tablets last year, taking penetration to 13.5 percent. However, computers were still the top alternative support for catch-up TV, with 17.9 percent of all PC owners, 9.2 million people in total, doing so at least once a month in 2012. Some 23.4 percent of French people watch catch-up TV on all alternative supports combined.
