Over 57% of all mobile phones in Ireland are now smartphones

Around 57.2 percent of all mobile phones in Ireland are now smartphones, up 12.2 percent from the year before, regulator ComReg revealed in its Quarterly Report on the Electronic Communications market for the first quarter. Data volumes continued to rise, up 48.1 percent from the year earlier to 13.897 terabytes. In general, the number of broadband subscriptions (fixed and mobile) increased by 0.7 percent from the previous quarter to 1.7 million broadband at end March. The estimated household (fixed and mobile) broadband penetration rate was 67 percent. Average broadband speeds also continued
