Over 60% of outages in 2013 due to system failures - ENISA

The European Union Agency for Network and Information Security (ENISA) reported 90 major telecoms outages in 2013, with 21 percent of the incidents affecting the availability of the 112 emergency number. In its Annual Incidents Report 2013, ENISA said the 90 incidents took place in 19 countries, with 9 countries reporting no significant incidents. Around half of the major incidents reported to regulators and ENISA involved mobile internet and mobile telephony connections, affecting around 1.4 million and 700,000 users per incident respectively. System failures were cited as the most common
