Pakistan ends 2017 with 144 million mobile subscribers

Pakistan added more than 1.19 million mobile subscribers in December 2017, ending the year with 144.53 million mobile users, up from 143.34 million in November 2017, according to a report from the Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA). Mobile operator Jazz led the Pakistani mobile market with over 53.62 million mobile customers at end-2017, followed by Telenor (41.72 million), Zong (30.20 million) and Ufone (18.97 million).

Pakistan also had 50.51 million broadband subscribers at 31 December 2017, up from 50 million in November. Of these, around 48.19 million were mobile broadband subscribers in December, compared to 47.20 million in November. Around 502,051 internet users connected through EV-DO technology, while the DSL base reached 1.576 million subscribers at end-2017. Around 138,622 internet customers used Wimax connections, and HFC connected 52,257 internet subscribers. The FTTH internet base reached 57,299 users at end-December 2017.
