Paraguay postpones OTT taxes until 2021

Paraguay has postponed plans to start levying taxes on over-the-top (OTT) digital services until 2021 due to the Covid-19 health crisis, reports local daily ABC, citing the vice-minister for taxation Oscar Orue. Under the amendment to the Tax Modernisation and Simplification Law that entered into force earlier this year, companies such as Netflix, Spotify, Deezer, Amazon Prime and YouTube Premium were to begin paying a non-resident income tax (INR) of 4.5 percent and VAT of 10 percent starting in July but the collection has been delayed "to support the economy due to the covid-19 emergency,"
