Paraguay to launch National Broadband Plan

The Paraguayan government will launch a National Broadband Plan next month to improve internet coverage in the country, National Telecommunications Commission (Conatel) president Eduardo Neri Gonzales has announced, reports Ultima Hora. Currently, 35 percent of Paraguayans have internet access, or 2 million people, with the highest penetration in the capital Asuncion. Being a landlocked country, Paraguay purchases international capacity at a premium of almost 50 percent over neighbouring countries with direct access to submarine cables. Domestic operators acquire internet from companies
