Paris council passes Free Mobile base stations ordinance

The Paris city council has passed a motion for mobile network licence holder Free Mobile to deploy some 300 base stations on local authority-owned property, La Tribune reports. The controversial ordinance was approved by a slight majority of 84 votes, as the UMP recommended that its councillors abstain and the city's nine Green councillors voting against. The latter based their opposition on public health grounds with the backing of several consumer protection groups, including 'Robins des Toits'.
