Pay-TV users down 1.83% in Brazil to 18.87 mln in November

Brazil ended November 2016 with 18.87 million pay-TV subscribers, a drop of 95,997 subscriptions (-0.51%) from the previous month. In comparison with November 2015, the reduction was even greater at 352,629 subscribers (-1.83%). Over the past twelve months and from October to November 2016, only Oi increased its pay-TV subscriber base.

The operator increased by 10.18 percent the number of subscribers from November 2015 to November 2016 (+118,865), while from October to November last year, the growth was 0.95 percent (+12,119). Telecom Americas (Claro, Embratel, Net) accounted for 52.4 percent of total pay-TV subscribers, followed by Sky/AT&T (28.1%), Telefonica (9.27%) and Oi (6.75%).
