PayPal adds 6.5 mln customers, revenues jump 18% in Q2

Thursday 27 July 2017 | 14:19 CET | News
Digital payments platform PayPal said revenues jumped 18 percent from the year before to USD 3.136 billion in the second quarter, while the net profit leaped 27 percent to USD 411 million or 34 cents per share. The results were again driven by higher payment processing volumes and user growth, with the company adding 6.5 million active customers in the quarter to 210 million customer accounts, including 17 million merchant accounts. PayPal also announced a new partnership with Baidu that will allow Chinese consumers to pay with Baidu Wallet and PayPal at PayPal merchants outside of China.
