PC market to rise 3.3% this year and then resume historical declines - study

The personal computing devices (PCD) market, which includes traditional PCs, tablets, and workstations, is expected to lift 3.3 percent year-on-year in 2020, with shipment volumes reaching 425.7 million units, according to the latest study from IDC. The market has seen a resurgence this year from both the consumer and business segments as people continue to work and study from home amid coronavirus lockdowns, with demand outpacing supply. IDC added that this year's growth is notable given last year's unusually strong PC market, driven mainly by commercial purchases for the Windows 7
