Pepephone inks deal to access Telefonica's fibre network

Friday 14 September 2018 | 14:46 CET | News
Spanish operator Pepephone, a Masmovil brand, has announced an agreement to rent Telefonica's fibre-optic network to reach new parts of Spain. In a statement, Pepephone said the deal means it can offer its newly-launched 200Mbps fibre connection in areas that aren't yet covered by its own network. However, line rental charges mean a standalone fibre plan will cost EUR 43.60 a month, EUR 9 more than the EUR 34.60 a month payable in areas covered by Pepephone's existing network, although the cost of convergent (200Mbps fibre plus mobile) plans will remain unchanged.
