Peru mobile data prices down 92% in 4 years

Increasing competition following the market entry of the operators Bitel and Entel has prompted a 92 percent fall in the price of mobile data in Peru, reports local business daily Gestion, citing data from watchdog Osiptel. The cost of 1MB plunged from an average of PEN 0.06 in March 2014 to PEN 0.005 in June 2018. In the prepay sector, the mobile data prices charged by Movistar (Telefonica), Claro (America Movil) and Bitel (Viettel) plunged by 90 percent, 49 percent and 76 percent, respectively.
