Peru preparing to deregulate fixed line telephony rates

Tuesday 19 February 2019 | 11:38 CET | News
Peru's telecommunications regulator Osiptel is preparing to deregulate the fixed line telephony rates of Telefonica del Peru around 8 years after introducing them, reports business daily Gestion, citing Osiptel general manager Sergio Cifuentes. The watchdog held a series of public consultations in Arequipa, Lima and Trujillo to present its proposal to eliminate the fixed prices charged by the incumbent, which have been significantly reduced in recent years, without any material impact on falling local, national and long distance traffic.
