Peru strengthens rules on penalties for telecom contract breaches

Peru's communications ministry (MTC) has announced the publication of newly-strengthened rules on fining operators that breach quality requirements with a view to "guaranteeing the proper functioning of services". In a statement, the ministry said it has followed OECD recommendations and now has more power to fine operators that fail to meet their contractual obligations via a set of clearly outlined infringements.
