Peru to ban itinerant sales of SIM cards

Peruvian telecom services regulator Osiptel has given the country's operators 10 working days to cease itinerant sales of SIM cards by local merchants. The watchdog said street vendors will no longer be allowed to sell SIM cards in view of the informal nature of the trade, with over 100 inspections conducted nationwide revealing that consumers are being exposed to fraud on several levels at illegal points of sale.
