Peruvian mobile lines fall 5% to under 40 mln in Q4

There were 39.8 million active mobile lines in Peru at the end of 2019, down 5.4 percent year on year, according to the latest update released by telecom regulator Osiptel. The figure is equivalent to a penetration rate of 127.7 percent, with Movistar (Telefonica) shedding over 2 million lines to end the year on 13.3 million, around 33.4 percent of the market, followed by Claro (America Movil) on 11.7 million lines, 29.5 percent of the total. Entel gained around 200,000 in 2019 to reach 20.2 percent of the market, followed by Bitel with 16.7 percent.
