Peruvian regulator disconnects over 558,000 prepay lines

Peruvian telecom services regulator Osiptel has confirmed the disconnection of 558,560 prepay lines on 08 October as part of the process to switch off non-validated lines. A month earlier the country's mobile operators partially suspended a total of 842,646 prepay lines corresponding to the services of users with more than ten numbers who had failed to validate their identity by matching their fingerprints with those on record at the country's national ID register, Reniec. The vast majority of the disconnected lines belonged to Claro (82 percent), while 10.7 percent belonged to Telefonica,
