Phones 4u to shut 362 stores, cut nearly 2,500 jobs

Phones 4u's administrators, PwC, announced that after the transfer of 198 stores and 160 concessions employing over 2,000 staff to Dixons Carphone, Vodafone and EE, the remaining 362 Phones 4u stores in the chain will have to be closed permanently. The 1,697 staff working at these locations will be made redundant. Another 720 people have been kept in the short term to help with the closure programme. Joint administrator Rob Hunt said PwC would work with Phones 4u's HR team over the coming days to support employees. Court approval has been received for the transfer of stores to Dixons
