Piracy in Spain due to prices and lack of content - Amazon

Tuesday 6 May 2014 | 09:43 CET | News
Spain's piracy problem stems from high prices, lack of content and cultural factors, according to Russell Grandinetti, vice president for Kindle content on Amazon. In an interview with Spanish daily El Pais, Grandinetti said that the e-books sector in Spain was being held back by many factors, including illegal downloads prompted by the prices charged by publishers. "We have explained to them that e-books are not as expensive as physical books but they have yet to fully accept it," he said. In addition, Grandinetti feels that lack of content is affecting legal e-book consumption in Spain.
