Pirate video sites see 8% drop in French internet audience

The proportion of French internet users who visited pirate video websites in 2016 has shrunk to 27 percent of the overall internet population, compared to 30 percent in 2015, according to a study by market researcher Mediametrie on behalf anti-piracy association ALPA and the National Centre for Cinema and the Moving Image (CNC). In real numbers, monthly unique visitors accessing pirated content in France decreased to approximately 13 million (from 14 million in 2015), representing a year-on-year fall of 8 percent, when including access on all devices (PCs, smartphones and tablets).
