Polish consumer protection court confirms fine for Orange Poland for automatic extension of contracts

Thursday 9 May 2019 | 09:59 CET | News
Orange Poland has appealed against a decision by competition and consumer protection authority UOKiK in December 2016. The issue was the automatic extension of fixed term contracts, if the consumer did not give notice. If the client did not cancel the contract before the end of the term, then the contract did not end, but was extended for another period - six months for Neostrada and twelve or 24 months for other fixed services. Consumers who terminated their contracts before the expiry of that time were subject to heavy fines.
