Pompei to head Enel's broadband joint venture

Italian utility giant Enel has announced that former Wind CEO Tommaso Pompei will head the new company it has set up to help build a national fibre-optic telecoms network. Pompei was previously CEO of Italian operator Eutelia and has worked with numerous companies, including Alitalia, Sigma, Omnitel, Olivetti, Tiscali and Wind when the latter company was controlled by Enel. According to Italian business daily Il Sole 24 Ore, the capital of the new company will be open to all operators, with Vodafone and Wind having already confirmed that they are prepared to join forces with Enel, while
