Portugal cancels OniWay UMTS license
Portugal's Ministry of Economical Affairs has cancelled the 3G license which was awarded to OniWay, Cellular News reported. The Ministry will split up the spectrum and award it to the three othe license holders in the country: TMN (Portugal Telecom), Vodafone Telecel and Optimus. OniWay has withdrawn itself from the Portuguese mobile market as it was not able to keep up with the requirements concerning the roll out of the UMTS network. Telenor, one of the shareholders in OniWay, has opposed the Ministry's dicision.
