Portugal has 11.1 million mobile subscribers

At the end of Q3, there were 11,1 million mobile telephony subscribers in Portugal, which translates to a 105.8 percent penetration rate. Figures released by telecommunications regulator Anacom show that in the Q3 the number of subscribers increased by 3.9 percent compared to June and 10 percent on 2004 figures. Prepaid cards, which represent 81.4 percent of the total, helped increase subscriber figures by 4.3 percent in the quarter, thanks to the numerous low-cost offers of UZO, Vodafone Directo and Rede 4.
