Portugal mobile base up over 3% in H1, fastest growth in over a decade

Wednesday 1 September 2021 | 15:43 CET | News
The number of active Sim cards in Portugal with effective use in the first half of 2021 increased by 3.4 percent year-on-year to 12.5 million, according to data published by the National Communications Authority (Anacom). This is the highest growth recorded since measurements started in 2010. The increase is explained by the popularity of post-paid and hybrid plans (+5.7%), which represent 62.9 percent of total accesses. Pre-paid plans continued to show a downward trend (-0.1% in the last 12 months), similar to what has been happening since 2012.
