Portugal Telecom exits Guine Telecom, Guinetel

The government of Guinea-Bissau announced the withdrawal of Portugal Telecom as a shareholder in Guine Telecom and Guinetel. The Economy Minister briefed the Cabinet on the negotiations that culminated, on the basis of a mutual agreement, in the sale of shares held by PT Comunicacoes, representing 40 percent of the capital of Guine Telecom and the shares held by PT Investimentos Internacionais, representing 55 percent of the capital of Guinetel. The government said it was still considering further steps for the state operators.
