Portuguese consumer group calls for internet speed guarantees

The Portuguese Consumers' Association (ACOP) has asked the government and the regulator for an "exhaustive check" of internet speeds and the establishment of a mandatory minimum speed of at least 20 Mbps, reports Lusa. This request comes after fixed internet speeds of less than 2 Mbps and mobile network speeds of less than 500 Kbps were registered, which "make it impossible for children and/or young people to study or their parents to work", the group said. In addition, it has also requested that there is no discrimination between those living in urban or rural areas in terms of internet
