Portuguese government pushes for greater use of underground telecom ducts

Altice Portugal has committed to bury about 1,000 kilometers of cables to avoid damage in emergency situations such as fires, the Portuguese government said, adding its still wants another 275 kilometers of buried cables this year, reports Lusa. The Minister of Planning and Infrastructures Pedro Marques recalled that one of the measures adopted to prevent the destruction or damage of connections was the provision of underground ducts.
