Portuguese government puts pressure on regulator over 5G auction

Wednesday 11 August 2021 | 14:52 CET | News
The Portuguese government has started to put pressure on the National Communications Authority (Anacom) regarding the delay in implementing the 5G network, reports TSF. The 5G auction should have ended in March this year and the constant delays raise doubts about whether 5G will be rolled out in 2023. The government has recalled that operators have a maximum of three years after the licences are issued to deploy the network, in addition to achieving territorial coverage obligations by 2025, with intermediate targets in 2023 and 2024.
