Portuguese govt will not intervene in Oi-PT merger

The Portuguese centre-right government will not interfere in the merger of Brazilian operator Oi and Portugal Telecom, which is a matter strictly between private companies, said Prime Minister Pedro Passos Coelho, reports Exame. In a parliamentary debate, after pointing out that it was a socialist government that decided in favour the merger, the prime minister stressed that the state is not a shareholder of Portugal Telecom and does not hold a golden share in it. The state will not intervene in this process, he said.
