Portuguese operators say end to roaming to benefit north

The association of Portuguese telecommunications operators (Apritel) believes that the end of roaming fees in the EU in 2017 will not have a positive impact on Portuguese consumers, reports TeK. According to Apritel, the decision approved by the European parliament will only benefit consumers in Northern Europe, as they typically travel more and have higher consumer profiles. The association also points out that major tourist destinations will see an increase in traffic, without Portuguese operators being able to recover all the costs associated with the network usage and need for investments
