Portuguese telecom market worth EUR 6 billion in 2009

Portugal's telecommunications market will be worth more than EUR 6 billion in 2009, with broadband, IP telephony and 3G leading market growth, according to a study by consultancy IDC. With average annual growth rates estimated at 3 percent, Portugal's market for telecom services and equipment will continue to grow at a quicker rate than the broader economy. IDC estimates that the national telecom market (excluding cable TV) was worth more than EUR 5 billion in 2004, of which 95 percent came from services. However, the equipment market is expected to have the highest average annual growth rate
