Profeco files class action against AT&T Mexico charge for equipment sales

Wednesday 4 November 2020 | 14:50 CET | News
Mexico's consumer protection agency Profeco has filed a class action on behalf of 844,480 AT&T Mexico users against an annual charge applied by the operator for acquiring equipment in instalments. Business daily El Financiero said AT&T is about to be summoned to reply to the class action and has been asked to issue a statement of interests. The company started to apply an additional annual charge of MXN 225 (around USD 11) a year ago, saying it would be imposed on all users acquiring subsidised equipment on a monthly basis, prompting complaints from Profeco.
