Prysmian touts benefits of 'bend insensitive' fibre cable

Milan-listed cable maker Prysmian said research has proven that bend-insensitive fibre cabling systems, above all G.657 fibres, serve to increase the capacity and lifetime of optical networks. In its latest 'Industry Insight', the company highlighted the impact of using bend-insensitive fibres across the entire wavelength spectrum, urging operators to adopt the technology to meet the rising wavelength requirements of current and future Passive Optical Networks (PONs).
