PTS to check that websites tell users about cookies

Tuesday 11 February 2014 | 13:01 CET | News
Swedish postal and telecoms service regulator PTS said it is to monitor compliance with rules on the use of internet cookies. By law, every website that uses cookies must inform visitors that they are doing so, and must ask them to consent to their use. PTS plans to make guidance clearer on how to inform website visitors about the use of cookies. PTS will check a certain number of selected sites, such as news sites, authorities' web pages and those run by banks and social media organisations.
