Puerto Rico mobile lines up 4% to 3.38 mln in 2017

The number of mobile telephony lines in Puerto Rico rose to 3.38 million at the end of December 2017, up 4.2 percent year on year, according to data published by the Telecommunications Regulatory Board of Puerto Rico (JRTPR). The growth is the highest in 5 years in spite of the devastating effects of hurricanes Irma and Maria on the island's infrastructure. The country's prepay segment rose over 6 percent to surpass 1 million subscriptions for the first time while the postpay segment climbed 3.4 percent to 2.38 million.
