Quarter of Germans use mobile devices to check traffic

One in four Germans (26%) gets travel updates on their smartphones or tablets, according to a recent Bitkom survey. It said 16 percent check ahead of their journey whether traffic jams are to be expected, and 15 percent follow the traffic updates while on the go. In 2014, only 11 percent got travel updates from the internet. The radio remains the main source of traffic information at 79 percent followed by GPS at 44 percent compared with 40 percent in 2014.
