Rakuten plans German expansion, moves HQ to Berlin

Japanese e-commerce company Rakuten plans to expand rapidly in Germany in competition with Amazon and eBay, according to WirtschaftsWoche. Rakuten CEO Hiroshi Mikitani said in an interview with the magazine that German country manager Christian Macht is ramping up the tempo to improve its position and raise its number of users. The German headquarters are moving from Bamberg to Berlin, too.
