Redundant Phones 4u employees sue bankrupt retailer

Over 600 former employees of retail chain Phones 4u, which went out of business at the end of 2014, are seeking hundreds of thousands of pounds in damages from the company for failing to consult workers before making over 2,500 people redundant, reports Mobile Today. Some 2,000 more Phones 4u workers were transferred to Dixons Carphone, EE and Vodafone, which bought 358 of its stores and concessions from administrators. The claim for 'protective award compensation' is based on UK law requiring employers to collectively inform and consult with staff when it plans 20 or more job cuts or
