Regulator approves Telcel's proposed rates

Mexico's telecoms services regulator IFT approved mobile operator Telcel's proposed rates for mobile services. Telcel, owned by America Movil, has been declared a preponderant economic agent by the regulator given the operator's dominant position in the local mobile market. Under the country's new telecoms regulation, the IFT has to approved the fees the preponderant economic agents want to charge subscribers. Telcel had submitted for approval new tariffs for postpaid, prepaid and data plans.
