Regulator to probe Telefonica's transfer of 5 ADSL plants

Spain's telecoms regulator CNMC has announced that it has initiated disciplinary proceedings against Telefonica over its replacement of five of its copper network plants with nodes. The regulator specified that, under current rules, Telefonica is only permitted to shut down a plant when 25 percent of customers in the area served by the plant have alternative means of accessing the network, such as FTTH. In the case of the five plants in question – Sant Esteve de Guialbes, Geria, Santurde, Canillas del Aceituno and Caseres in Tarragona  – Telefonica didn't respect the six-month period to
