Renzi weighing up broadband options – report

Italy's prime minister Matteo Renzi has called on Andrea Guerra, former CEO of eyewear group Luxottica, to draw up a public-private plan that would allow Telecom Italia to become a major shareholder of Milan-based operator Metroweb alongside state lenders F2i and CDP with a view to accelerating the development of a national high-speed fibre network. Italian daily La Repubblica reports that the plan would protect the interests of all operators, including Vodafone, Wind and Fastweb, by giving Italy's telecoms and anti-trust regulators – AgCom and AGCM – the power to ensure equal access to the
