Rivals consider legal challenge to BT universal broadband plans

Monday 23 October 2017 | 22:27 CET | News
BT could be facing a legal challenge from rival providers over its voluntary deal with the UK government to invest up to GBP 600 million to connect all homes with a minimum universal service obligation (USO) of 10 Mbps, reports The Times. According to an unnamed industry source, several companies have taken legal advice about a possible legal challenge if the government accept BT's plans to fund the expansion itself and recover the cost from wholesale customers.
