Riverbed expands in Wi-Fi with Xirrus takeover

Riverbed Technology announced an agreement to acquire Wi-Fi equipment maker Xirrus. The acquisition of the privately-held company is expected to support Riverbed's SD-WAN and cloud networking platform Riverbed SteelConnect with the integration of a cloud-managed Wi-Fi offering. Riverbed will also continue to offer Xirrus as a stand-alone enterprise WLAN system, through its partner channels. No financial details of the takeover were disclosed.
