Roku, Amazon extend lead in US streaming device market - study

Roku is consolidating its lead in the streaming media player market in the US at the expense of rival devices from Apple and Google, according to a report from Parks Associates. In the first quarter of 2017, some 37 percent of streaming media players owned by US broadband households were Roku devices, up from one-third in the year-earlier quarter, with the company benefiting from a recent overhaul of its product range as well as their low price and read availability, said the report. The only other device able to increase its market share in the same period was Amazon's Fire TV, which climbed
