Romania confirms cap on international calls, SMS to EEA countries from 15 May

Wednesday 17 April 2019 | 12:52 CET | News
Romania's telecommunications authority Ancom said that tariffs for fixed and mobile calls or SMS to any country in the European Economic Area will be capped at EUR 0.19 (VAT not included) per minute and EUR 0.06 per SMS respectively from 15 May. The tariff caps will apply only to calls and SMS towards numbers in the EEA that are made under pay-as-you-go regime. Call minutes and SMS resources included in subscriptions and add-ons are outside the scope of these caps. However, the applicable tariffs cannot exceed the regulated caps if the included resources are consumed.
