Rome prosecutors close down 152 streaming sites

A total of 152 websites that were illegally streaming copyrighted content, above all sporting events, films and TV series, have been taken down by Italy's financial police under instruction from Rome's public prosecutor, reports Corriere delle Comunicazioni. The move is the country's largest ever crackdown on illegal streaming websites, following the 124 websites blocked last year after a complaint from pay-TV operator Sky Italia. Last November a Milan court accepted a complaint from commercial TV broadcaster Mediaset and for the first time ordered a major Internet Service Provider (ISP) to
