Rostelecom to build backbone in the Kuril Islands

Russian national operator Rostelecom said it is putting engineering works for deployment of a fibre-optic backbone network in the Kuril Islands and Sakhalin out to tender, reports Comnews.ru. The line will connect Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Kurilsk, Yuzhno-Kurilsk and Krabozavodskoye. The maximum value of the contract is RUB 420.6 million, and the size of the entire deployment project is RUB 3.3 billion. Applications should be submitted by 24 June and the tender process is due for completion by 23 August.
