RTL International cancelled from June 2017

Wednesday 15 February 2017 | 14:32 CET | News
German broadcaster RTL has announced RTL International will cease broadcasting on 31 May 2017. RTL senior vice president Stefan Sporn said the station was not profitable in current market conditions due to weak subscriber numbers. He placed the blame on pirating platforms which illegally broadcast the network online. RTL announced plans to make German-language content for overseas markets available on an OTT platform, but said development was still underway.
